A celebration of spring and renewal, this programme brings together music by Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn alongside Schumann’s radiant ‘Spring’ Symphony.
At its heart is Fanny Mendelssohn’s Das Jahr, in vivid orchestrations by Detlev Glanert. Following the seasons from October to March, the music reveals colour and emotional power.
Felix Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No.10 offers youthful intensity, while Schumann’s ‘Spring’ Symphony brings the evening to a joyful close.
Commissioned by the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg (financed by the Friends of the Mozarteum Orchestra Association), the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.
