The Guide to Scotland's Festivals 2022

The List takes a detailed look in print and online at festivals and events happening in Scotland in 2022
Our coverage brings together round-ups and overviews of the festivals organised for 2022 with introductions to the year's particular themes and special events. Alongside this, you'll find comprehensive and detailed listings of all the events and festivals we have information on, constantly updated online and available on this page here
The year 2022 has been named Scotland's Year of Stories, encouraging us all to celebrate the wealth of stories inspired by, written or created in Scotland. This theme is a prominent part of events from storytelling and book festivals to community and cultural gatherings, and of course events and festivals are filled with the potential to create memories that will be cherished, told and retold for years to come. Scotland promotes itself as 'The Perfect Stage' with a reputation for hosting world-class festivals and events, and for its ability to deliver unrivalled variety and atmosphere. As well as major sporting and cultural happenings in 2022, many old favourites are making a return to the festival calendar alongside established regulars and energetic newcomers.
Some of the most intriguing special events developed for the year are part of the UNBOXED programme, a celebration of creativity and innovation right across the UK. Six very different commissions will be delivered at multiple locations across Scotland including Dandelion, Scotland's special contribution to the programme, with its unique approach to community growing, music-making and harvest gatherings.
