The List

Wigmore Hall

Leading international recital venue specialising in performances of chamber music and song. Originally named the Bechstein Hall, it was built between 1899 and 1901 by C Bechstein Pianofortefabrik, the German piano manufacturer, whose showroom was next door. The hall is considered to have one of the best acoustics for classical music in Europe and it was refurbished in 2004. Today, the hall promotes 400 concerts a year and broadcasts a weekly concert on BBC Radio 3. The hall also promotes an extensive education programme throughout London and beyond. Wigmore Hall enjoyed a number of long associations with the great artists of the 20th century including Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Victoria de los Ángeles, Sergey Prokofiev, Shura Cherkassky, Paul Hindemith, Andrés Segovia, Peter Pears, Benjamin Britten and Francis Poulenc.

What's On @ Wigmore Hall

Family Concert: The Duck With No Luck (BSL Interpreted)
Join Concerteenies for the musical story of ‘The Duck With No Luck’, for children aged 3-7 and their families. ‘When Dizzy the duck oversleeps and misses the flight South, he knows that he must, somehow, catch his friends up. Unfortunately, Dizzy doesn't have a good sense of direction. Can anyone help him on his way? Join him as he encounters a mischievous pigeon, a well-meaning parrot, and a hungry vulture… not to mention swampy jungles and a chase into space!’ Narrator Polly Ives, bassoonist Daria Phillips, pianist Annabelle Lawson combine new music, composed by award-winning Paul Rissmann, and digital animations by Victor Craven, with this much-loved children's book written by Jonathan Long and illustrated by Korky Paul. With songs and actions to join in with and a relaxed and friendly environment, this is a perfect introduction to music, animation and storytelling.
