Musical collaborations are often more for the benefit of the artists involved than their audiences but fans of narrative songwriting of the folk-country variety will appreciate the coming together of Fisher, King and Leven.

This triumvirate of pioneers in their respective fields are old friends and playmates. Robert Fisher is the rotund leading light of The Willard Grant Conspiracy, the Americana collective that gravitates towards the Californian desert on Fisher’s say-so, recording epic, gothic tales of whisky and woe.

Michael Weston King is best-known as lead singer and songwriter of British alt.country band, The Good Sons, often regarded as the first of their breed. Lately he has been pursuing a more musically expansive solo career and his new album A New Kind of Loneliness was produced by Fife folk maverick and former punk Jackie Leven who completes the trio.

The three will trade each others’ songs in a show that, according to Weston King, will be full of ‘dark perverse humour, song and stories, maybe some poetry’.
