Rival Consoles is an electronic musician from England who creates driving, experimental dance tracks primarily with analog equipment. Over the course of his career, his music has ranged from the challenging IDM of his early EPs to more overtly club-oriented electro-house releases like 2011's Kid Velo. His output has gradually become more conceptual, with works such as 2015's Howl consisting of intricate compositions focusing on a restricted amount of sounds, and 2021's Overflow focusing on technology and social media. The more ambient, minimalist Now Is (2022) blends acoustic and electronic instruments.

Known for their ability to effortlessly blend trad music with contemporary new-age pop influences, Project Smok are at their most comfortable pushing boundaries, making listeners stop and re-evaluate their musical expectations. They do away with any perceived limits of genre from the first note. The close-knit group meld naturally between the innovative, explosive and emotive, drawing outside inspiration from indie pop acts like The 1975, LANY and Bon Iver, to more time-honoured, West Coast styles of playing.

For his second Leeds Jazz Festival 2025 show, Leeds world music/global beats boss promoter Lubi Jovanovic is bringing the mambo and salsa fire to Belgrave Music Hall on Friday 23rd May. Live on stage, top 12 piece mambo/Afro-Cuban jazz/salsa ensemble Orchestra Mambo International. If you love the music of Latin legends Tito Puente, Ray Barretto and Eddie Palmieri, you will love this band. Orchestra Mambo International is a 12 piece UK ensemble founded and co-led by DJ Lubi and salsa/Latin jazz trombonist Jonny Enright (Grupo X). They play classic salsa, mambo, Afro-Cuban jazz, Cuban son and cha cha cha inspired by Latin music legends like Tito Puente, Machito, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto, Tito Rodriguez and the Fania All Stars. They feature musicians and singers from Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Brazil and the UK who are based across the country - London, Yorkshire, Manchester, London and Scotland. Musicians who have played with salsa, jazz, funk and soul artists such as Joe Bataan, Tito Allen, The New Mastersounds, Oscar D’Leon, Matthew Halsall, Snowboy & The Latin Section, The Sorcerers, Bobby Matos, Malcolm Strachan, Larry Harlow, Dave Valentin, Grupo X, Salsa Celtica, The Mantecas and The Haggis Horns. They released two successful singles in 2024, ‘Mambo Te Llama’ and ‘Baila Mi Cha Cha’, through top UK analogue music label ATA Records (based in Leeds), and are currently writing their debut album for release in autumn 2025. Tonight, they make their Belgrave Music Hall debut for Leeds Jazz Festival. Once again, they will invite top London salsa singer Juanita Euka to join them onstage to perform the songs of Cuban salsa legend Celia Cruz. The band's friends from Sabroso Dance Company of Leeds, the north's premier mambo dance company, will be performing a show and jamming with the band, as they've done at shows throughout 2024. The Belgrave House Band Presents: Amy Winehouse's 'Back To Black'
The Belgrave House Band, on a mission to celebrate and honour that historic art form, the album, are back once again for edition No.9 to take on the multi-award winning, chart-topping, Doo Wopping, Soul, Reggae and Jazz masterpiece Back To Black. Amy Winehouse's second and most well-known album produced by the esteemed Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi with The Dap-Kings as backing band. The Belgrave House Band's lineup is decorated with a full horn section, backing vocalists and a rhythm section from Leeds burgeoning Jazz scene, chosen to honour Amy's live band circa 2007. The band will also be taking movement direction from prestigious choreographer, Ruby Portus, who has closely studied the movement of not only Amy's live performances but also the 60's Girl Groups the album takes so much influence from.

Mohammad Syfkhan is a Kurdish/Syrian Singer and Bouzouki player. He began playing music in 1980 while he was in college studying nursing. When he got his degree in 1983, Mohammad moved to the city of Raqqa, Syria where he began working as a professional singer and started his own band, The Al-Rabie Band which played concerts, parties, weddings and festivals all over Syria. The Al-Rabie Band were a much sought-after group. Their live sets included Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish and some Western songs as well as Mohammad’s own original material. Presented by The Beauty Witch. She utilizes various techniques including alternate tunings, percussive hits, and lap tapping in her music to great effect. She has won various local talent shows, was a finalist in the Rolling Stones Young Gun guitar competition, was the Grand prize winner of New York University's Ultra Violet Live talent show, and won the Gold Prize in the Instrumental category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. Los Angeles-based Thumpasaurus are a gang of five young American musicians taking hugely divergent influences and channelling them into something uniquely Thumpasaurian. Thumpasaurus offer up their own unique punk/funk stew wherein, hidden in plain sight and sound, you’ll find traces of Zappa, Beefheart, James Chance, Funkadelic/Parliament, Morphine, Devo, Talking Heads and Prince, as well as some rocking heavy metal, free jazz, musical theatre and even some light opera references thrown in for good measure. 2018 saw the band record an EP with legendary house producer, Dirtybird’s Justin Jay. Consisting primarily of remixed Thump songs, the EP was premiered by Annie Mack on BBC Radio 1.The band released their self-produced debut album, The Book Of Thump, in 2019. Thumpasaurus released a second album 'Thumpaverse' in 2021.

This diversion from the traditional concert model is what is at the heart of the Sessions. Through the medium of these well-loved tunes, a story of the period is interwoven into the music making; creating a unique environment between audience and performer. Using their own arrangement of the tunes, these ‘Alehouse Boys’ combine this unique format with humour, an unrivalled virtuosity and flare for improvisation.
