The List

Shacklewell Arms

The back room of the Shacklewell Arms is the place to be for gigs, club nights, magazine launches and other events, seven days a week. Music-wise, expect unknowns to mingle with up-and-comers, for reasonable prices (often free; usually less than a tenner). Generally veering on the indie side, although Solange Knowles has manned the decks in the past. The front room is a pub, with a big screen for football, a pool table and a wide range of ales and lagers to satisfy most tastes. Burgers are the meal of choice -- the pub are working their way through 50 different burgers to represent all 50 states of America, so that's plenty of choice. There are also veggie options, hot dogs and sides. Bus numbers 488, 236, 149, 76 all stop nearby, while Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction tube stations are about five minutes walk away.

Pit Pony

Pit Pony

24 May 2025 - 8 Nov 2025

Fiercely honest, Jackies lyricism portrays an intense duality and a vulnerability that is instantly relatable. Turning inwards to explore notions of motherhood, imposter syndrome and getting older, while simultaneously outwards through commentary on the cost of living, polluted water, the constant sell on social media and the off menu Starbucks coffee obsession. With the band citing the recent influences of Blue Weekend and Skinty Fia alongside the likes of Can and the soundtracks of Ennio Moriconne, mastering engineer Christian Wright (Wolf Alice, Fontaines D.C., Pigs x7) proves the perfect fit with Chris McManus (Blank Studios) heading up recording & production. Sonically, Pit Pony remain loyal to their roots, noting the influence of regional titans Nadine Shah and The Futureheads and with the ENGLISH ACCENT god damn it reminder on PJ Harveys Uh Huh Her in mind, Jackie Purver stays true to her accent. Dead Stars sees Pit Pony deliver an expanded but yet more balanced and personal conception of their craft. Garth Purver explains that the band were aiming for a more rounded and complete record that showcased multiple sides to us but hung together as one piece of work rather than a collection of separate tracks. While Andrew Jones mentions how the band encouraged each other to pull on those strands and incorporate more of our personal taste in the sound.

London's best head (rush) is back. Hosted by Ash Kenazi, join us for a night of hot sexy queer music. tatyana TATYANA is an electronic musician and DJ and harpist based in London. Her sophomore album It's Over dropped on Sinderlyn Records in March 2024 to praise from Pitchfork, Clash Magazine, and strong support from BBC Radio 6. A magnetic performer, she’s brought her genre-blurring live show-equal parts emotional release and euphoric dance party-to venues across the UK, including Pitchfork London and a standout run opening for Lynks on tour. Crafted for the hot girls, gays and theys, her sets blend live vocals, synths, and harp into a glittery, high-energy experience. Kuntessa & The Skanks Having imported her steamy brand of DIY pop direct from Italy to the shores of the Thames, Kuntessa recently came out with her debut EP ‘Pussy Pitstop’. Tracks from the EP were played on BBC Radio 6, and this summer she played both Green Man and Mighty Hoopla among other festivals, while supporting Cumgirl8 and Girl Ray on tour. Kuntessa’s music struts along the lines separating DIY punk, R&B and bubblegum pop; her performances known just as much for their erotic themes and unforgettable melodies as for her camp, tongue-in-cheek humour, turning heads on East London’s queer scene as well as its post-punk/indie circuit. The combination of pop brilliance and her genuine playfulness shines through in Kuntessa’s music; the themes of laziness, body hair, and dirty fantasies of being your bike seat creating a visceral image of the artist - one listeners tend to attach themselves to immediately in a fan-girl furore. Her new live band Kuntessa and the Skanks is set to debut in May 2025 at The Great Escape festival in Brighton. Mara Liddle Not all dance music is made for the club. Some of it’s made for the girlies who dance alone in their bedrooms - over-caffeinated, daydreaming, overthinking - the ones soundtracking their own lives like it’s a coming-of-age movie nobody else is watching. Mara Liddle is a British pop artist blurring the lines between dance, drum & bass, and hyperpop, creating vibrant, addictive soundscapes stitched together with bold energy, sharp hooks, and lyrics that feel like voice notes you were too scared to send. Inspired by the internet generation and the bittersweet chaos of modern relationships, her sound pulls from the likes of Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, and Shygirl - but with a world all its own. “My music’s shaped by the digital age,” Mara says. “The stuff we scroll past, the way a single text can ruin your whole day, or the way constant connection makes us feel more alone.” Already turning heads with features in Earmilk, Atwood, PLASTIC, and more, Mara has headlined festivals and played shows across the UK - building a world for anyone who’s ever felt too much, thought too hard, and danced it off anyway. ‘ Presented by Popperz. Eli-rose Sanford + Zac Lawrence + More
Eli-Rose Sanford South London’s Eli-Rose Sanford conjures a spellbinding blend of alt-grunge and psych-folk, weaving raw emotion with haunting melodies. Having honed her craft in bands like Sasha & The Shades and Ideal Husband, she now steps into her own, with her performances serving as intimate rituals. Zac Lawrence Best known as the frenetic frontman of DEADLETTER, Zac Lawrence’s solo project strips back the band’s wiry post-punk for something starker and more exposed. Still driven by a sharp lyrical bite and razor-edged social commentary, his solo work leans into acoustic textures, spoken-word cadences, and the darker corners of alternative folk. It’s a rawer, more introspective side of a voice that’s usually found snarling at the chaos - now whispering through it. Frank Lloyd Wleft Leading his orchestra from the heart of London, Frank Lloyd Wleft melds country, punk, and poetry into a genre-defying soundscape. His latest single, “How Did I Let Myself Fall So In Love With You?”, showcases his flair for storytelling and musical innovation, with influences ranging from Beat poetry to Americana. Lando Manning Lando Manning crafts acid-tinged folk that resonates with hope and introspection. His sophomore EP, “Brighter Days”, reflects a journey through darkness towards light, drawing inspiration from the likes of Nick Drake and Townes Van Zandt. Manning's music and performances are known for their tender energy and poetic depth. Presented by The Shacklewell Arms This is an 18+ event

Vogues + Floco + Yuki

17 Jun 2025 - 17 Jun 2025

Vogues - Vogues is the project of Davy Roderick; using woozy synths, drum machine and distorted guitar to form a patchwork of alt pop, folk and electronic balladry. FLOCO - Singer, producer and violinist FLOCO inhabits a world between the old and the new. Weaving remnants of her musical upbringing on English folk music through live electronics and experimental production, FLOCO explores the more abstract lands of Cyberfolk and Dream Pop. Her live shows flit between moments of lyrical intimacy and ethereal transcendence, as FLOCO oversees a range of electronics augmenting her vocals and violin lines. With moments of improvisation, field recordings and freeform electronics, her music is an organic melding of songcraft and space. Yuki - Yuki are a three-piece girl band from London blending shadowy melodies, distorted synths, and strange, shimmering energy. Their music lives somewhere between a dream and a warning - gothic, noisy, and just a little bit enchanted. Presented by Bad Vibrations 18+ only (photo ID required)

Max Winter + Pearl2 + Couch Prints

Max Winter + Pearl2 + Couch Prints

24 Jun 2025 - 24 Jun 2025

Max Winter’s music seeks to traverse a breadth of styles - a world where freewheeling jazzwise drum workouts linger behind silk bass and glooming electronics, where compositional flurries of flute, cello, keys, and violin playfully exchange with restrained melodic ambience, where crystalline vocal melodies float above terminator slap bass sessions... it’s literally all going on...and all at the same time. Pearl2 are a London-based electronic trio fusing hypnotic club energy with off-kilter pop. Fronted by Lola Stephen (Hank), whose airy vocals float over Dylan Jones’ lithe basslines and Tom Kellet’s (Moreish Idols) restless, textured electronics, their sound is raw, rhythmic, and intoxicating. Drawing inspiration from leftfield icons like Lena Platonos, Boards Of Canada, Prima Scream, and Saâda Bonaire, Pearl2 blur the lines between the cerebral and the physical. Couch Prints is Jayanna Roberts and Brandon Tong. It is an experimental pop project formed in New York and best heard from the backseat. In their own private world, they blend midwestern emo with countrypolitan twang and launder it all through a cold synthetic electronica. Taking cues from influential electronica “bands” like Sweet Trip, Frou Frou, and The Knife, they seamlessly blend disparate worlds of popular music to create a sound more tied to affect than to genre, something that speaks to the schizophrenic nature of contemporary life. Throughout their music runs a through line - a reflection on the isolation core to the middle-American experience, and modern world more generally. A world where excess and self-destruction are the last remaining avenues of self realization and change the only constant. Presented by Bad Vibrations 18+ only (photo ID required)
