Fringe Review: Girlhood In The Bathroom theatre review – Powder room confessions

Why do girls always go to the bathroom together? Girlhood In The Bathroom turns the familiar question into a lively and heartfelt musical about friendship, vulnerability and the chaotic magic of a night out. Set inside a club bathroom, the show follows five twenty-something women across one long evening as they navigate love, friendship and the confusing realities of growing up. What begins as a simple night out slowly unfolds into a series of honest conversations, spontaneous bonding moments and emotional confessions that feel strikingly real.

The performers carry the show with infectious energy and impressive vocal talent. Their voices are beautifully melodic, filling the room with warmth and emotion. Each character brings a different personality to the stage, but together they capture that whirlwind of chaos and comfort, which the audience responds to with laughter, clearly recognising those moments of hyping each other up, exchanging compliments and sharing unexpected truths.

What makes Girlhood In The Bathroom particularly charming is its relatability. It celebrates the small but powerful moments of connection between women, the kind that happen in the most unexpected spaces. Funny, heartfelt and musically engaging, the show feels like a love letter to female friendship and the unspoken sisterhood of the dancefloor bathroom.

Girlhood In The Bathroom concluded March 5 at the Ballroom Carclew.
