Kate Bush Unmoored music review: Spellbinding musical journey
This heartfelt tribute to the popular chanteuse is a truly memorable affair

Kate Bush Unmoored is a captivating journey that aims to create a sense of longing. At the helm is Eklektika, a 12-piece choral music ensemble that delivers the emotion and style of Bush’s storytelling through angelic voices that echo through the space.
Woven into an exploration of the classic (and on-trend) Wuthering Heights, composer Judy Stubbs breathes new life into Cathy and Heathcliff, poetically displaying their inner turmoil and desire to find each other with almost supernatural intricacy (although if you’re unfamiliar with the novel, you may wish to do a quick brush-up first to make things easier to follow). Dreamy imagery and rhythmic piano, cello and bass guitar accompany themes of love, loss and surrealism and the desire to feel whole.
It’s well-paced overall, with ‘Breathing’ creating an almost out-of-body experience; intense movements and bodies swaying rhythmically together to create a trance-like state, only recovering their composure in the final, quiet moments. Throughout, Stubbs' arrangements are astounding. Long after the applause fades, this show will linger; a mesmerising release.
Kate Bush Unmoored continues at Parks Theatre until February 26.
