Win tickets to IKEA: Magical Patterns exhibition at Dovecot Studios

Win tickets for the IKEA: Magical Patterns exhibition before it closes at Dovecot Studios

This is your last chance to experience the first ever IKEA exhibition to arrive in the UK; a rare opportunity to explore six decades of innovative textile design before it closes in January 2026. Bringing 180 iconic fabrics to Edinburgh, this vibrant showcase reveals the bold creativity, experimentation and collaboration that have shaped IKEA’s design legacy.

The exhibition traces the evolution of IKEA textiles from the early days of striking patterns created by artists Bitten Højmark and Inger Nilsson, through to the influential work of Swedish design collective 10-gruppen. It celebrates the creative visions of renowned designers including Zandra Rhodes, Marimekko and many others whose contributions helped define the playful, modern identity of IKEA’s fabrics.

Visitors can dive into the stories behind famous patterns, from the beloved stripy RANDIG BANAN to the colourful, characterful ANNIKEN broccoli motif, while discovering how cultural shifts and design trends have influenced IKEA’s textile collections over the decades. With a rare behind-the-scenes look at artistic process and experimentation, the exhibition highlights the enduring impact of these designs on Swedish and global design culture.

Complete your visit in the pop-up craft studio, where you can mix, match and create your own pattern combinations.
