The Frying Dutchman Café

Callander, on the eastern edge of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, is a popular tourist and outdoors hub, being one end of the Great Trossachs Path. It’s home to a growing rarity: the sit-in traditional fish and chip shop. The Frying Dutchman Café has all the familiar delights of a well-run chippy, from crisp batter around flaky haddock, to meat pies, sausages, scampi, haggis, etc. The Dutchman also does soups, toasties, pancakes and home-made cakes, in case the fish supper wasn’t enough. Unusually, the Pakistani owner also cooks up a range of curries etc in the café (pick-up or delivery only), meaning that this place specialises in two of the nation’s favourite cuisines.
