365 Days/365 Plays
Penn Theatre Ensemble
Three performers take on 20+ characters in 45 minutes in a performance that asks: who controls the narrative? In 2003, playwright Suzan-Lori Parks tasked herself with writing a play a day, sometimes two. We have curated ten of those pieces to present for our 21st year at the festival – featuring goddesses, exiled kings, unhinged presidents, writers, muses and some regular folks. By writing a play daily, Parks reflected on the year she lived in and on the world at that historical moment. What is amazing is how relevant many of those reflections remain today.
