A Christmas Carol: A Musical Retelling

Following sell-out performances, Will Todd and David Simpatico’s musical retelling of A Christmas Carol comes to Cadogan Hall for the first time this December.
Scored for eight singers, an actor, and a trio of piano, double bass and accordion, Will Todd’s enchanting score weaves Victorian carols and the midwinter chimes of handbells through Charles Dickens’ timeless ghost story.
In a libretto drawn by David Simpatico from the much-loved 1848 novella, we meet Ebenezer Scrooge, the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and the friends whose kindness teaches him the true meaning of Christmas.
Described as a work that “captures the spirit of the tale perfectly” (★★★★★ MusicOMH), eight of Opera Holland Park’s finest principals perform in a semi-staged production directed by Martin Duncan (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland).
