Brazilian instrumental quintet Alvorada will be joined by cavaquinho player Lucas Ladeia for a unique collaboration at their much-loved musical home The Harrison. This is a rare opportunity to hear one of the top exponents of Brazilian choro on the cavaquinho, with compositions from both Alvorada and Ladeia as well as innovative interpretations of choro classics. An evening of infectious Brazilian grooves and playful virtuosic interaction awaits!

Alvorada are an award-winning quintet who play Brazilian music inspired by the choro tradition. Now in their tenth year, Alvorada have delighted audiences at festivals and venues across the UK and internationally. With two highly-acclaimed albums -First Light(2019) andFaz Tempo(2024) - and multiple radio appearances to their name, Alvorada play music that won't let you stay still"(BBC Radio 3). With original compositions and choro interpretations that blend rhythms from Brazil and beyond, Alvorada have been lauded by the Brazilian choro maestro Mauricio Carrilho as playing with great authenticity, groove and brilliance.

Lucas Ladeia is a Brazilian cavaquinho player, composer, and educator from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He performs with renowned choro groupsToca de TatuandAssanhado Quarteto, releasing several albums with both groups as well as his 2022 solo projectCavaquinho em todos os tons. He has performed and led workshops at major festivals across Brazil, Europe, the United States, and Australia, and collaborated with renowned musicians and ensembles. Alongside his performance career, he is pursuing a PhD on Brazilian cavaquinho performance at the University of Minas Gerais.
