Andy Peek's Record Club: Talking Heads Special

Andy Peek's Record Club: Talking Heads Special
Fairfield Social Club welcomes Andy Peek (Come On Feet) for the next edition of a new series of listening parties celebrating great albums, heard the way they were intended - in full, on vinyl, and without distraction.

Well known in Manchester and beyond as one of the UK's most respected record collectors, Andy brings decades of musical knowledge and a deep love of album culture to FSC. This series puts the record itself front and centre, creating a shared listening experience where the album is the main event.

In April's Record Club, Andy will play the two Talking Head Albums Remain In Light (1980) and Speaking In Tongues (1983) back to back.

With Brian Eno at the helm, Remain In Light is considered an experimental masterpiece which focuses on dense afrobeat inspired polyrhythmic soundscapes and studio sound experimentation.

Speaking In Tongues is considered the highly accessible pop focussed funk follow up to Remain In Light which distils Talking Heads experimental work into an era defining New York record.

With both records teeing up the landmark Stop Making Sense perfectly from very different angles, it's safe to say that everyone has an opinion on these two masterpieces!
