Arthur Coates and Kerran Cotterell - Saturday 28th March 2026 at 7.30pm - The Controlled Burn Tour
Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterellare a two-man trad tornado tearing through the folk world with foot percussion, fiddle, guitar,
vocals, and groove to spare. Mixing Scottish and English roots with modern flair, they deliver foot-stomping tunes, rich
harmonies, and cheek and charm. Whether in a village hall or a festival field, their shows radiate connection and joy. Winners of
the Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase at Canadas Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, theyre fast becoming one of the scenes
most talked-about acts. Their upcoming album Controlled Burn turns tradition sideways - storytelling with soul, and grooves that
smoulder, spark, and occasionally catch fire.
Arthur Coates is an acclaimed UK award-nominated musician who began playing the Violin at the age of 7. He later attended the Aberdeen City Music School where he studied Violin and Piano. Arthur eventually found his calling for Quebecois traditional music which he continues to chase. He released his debut solo album Focus in June 2019, a project that heavily featured original material.
Kerran Cotterell is an energetic and melodic Guitar player who leans on his vast and varied musical experience to create timeless works of art that are refreshingly unique but are still deeply grounded in traditional folk music. He has garnered plaudits having performed on the main stage of the Cambridge Folk Festival, as well as the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.
Together, Arthur and Kerran produce a versatile mix of sound through instrumentals and song featuring various instruments, including Fiddle, Guitar, Bouzouki & Foot Percussion. They create a sound that is often surprising to the ear but still remains true to the roots of traditional music.
