The story follows Belle, an intelligent and courageous young woman who dreams of adventure beyond her small provincial town. When her father, Maurice, becomes lost in the woods and imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle bravely offers to take his placefinding herself held captive by a fearsome Beast.
Unbeknownst to Belle, the Beast is actually a prince placed under a powerful enchantment along with his entire household, now transformed into talking objects like Lumire, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts. Only by learning to love and be loved in return can he break the spell before the final rose petal falls. As Belle and the Beast slowly grow to understand one another, danger brews back in the village, where the arrogant Gastonplots to win Belles hand at any cost.
