Belgrave Listening Group #68 - 50 Years Of Born To Run

Belgrave Listening Group #68 - 50 Years Of Born To Run
On Tuesday 27th May at Belgrave Music Hall, we’ll take a deep dive into two landmark albums from The Boss’s storied career, showcasing the raw poetry and cinematic sweep that have made his music timeless. We begin the evening with Nebraska (1982), a stark and haunting collection recorded as home demos. Stripped of the E Street Band’s bombast, Nebraska reveals Springsteen at his most vulnerable and intimate, weaving dark tales of American life with little more than voice, guitar, and harmonica. It's a record that demands deep listening - its quiet intensity offering a powerful counterpoint to the anthems that made him famous. For the second half of the night, we turn to Born To Run (1975) - the album that cemented Springsteen’s place as a rock ’n’ roll icon. Every song bursts with urgency and ambition, from the widescreen drama of the title track to the streetwise romance of "Thunder Road." Fifty years on, Born To Run still sounds like freedom itself - a bold, breathtaking ride through dreams, desperation, and hope. Doors open at 7pm, with ambient DJ sets from host Andrew Devine between listens. Arrive early to grab a seat, soak up the atmosphere, and join us in celebrating one of the most essential albums of the last half-century. Let’s get lost in music. Presented by Super Friendz.
