Beryl Burton OBE - probably the greatest athlete you have never heard of!
Yorkshire wife, mother and world record holding cyclist. Always remaining an amateur, she set multiple records in the 1960's, '70's and '80's - many that remained unbeaten for decades and, at times, even exceeding what the men could achieve.
She went virtually unnoticed in the UK, but was famous abroad. It is said that if she had been French, Joan of Arc would have been relegated to second place.
Her incredible jaw-dropping life story is told by just four actors using a script written by the famous actress, Maxine Peake.
