Billie Holiday at Carnegie Hall feat. Riketté Genesis

Step into the smoky glow of 1950s New York as London's own Riketté Genesis channels the spirit of Lady Day in this lovingly-crafted nod to Billie Holiday's legendary 1956 Carnegie Hall concert. But this isnt simply about the songs, it's the stories too.
Backed by an outstanding band led by pianist and musical director Alex Webb, Riketté weaves together Holiday's most iconic songs with excerpts from her autobiography Lady Sings The Blues - just as Billie herself did that night at Carnegie Hall. Expect the sweet swing of What A Little Moonlight Can Do and the aching beauty of I Cover The Waterfront, right through to Holiday's defiant, self-penned classics like Dont Explain and the title song Lady Sings The Blues.
Riketté Genesis has been making waves with her velvet vocals and love for the Swing era, recently releasing her gypsy jazz-inspired EP Busy Line. She's lit up stages from the Southbank Centre and Wilderness Festival to Nigeria's renowned Satchmo's Jazz Festival in Lagos bringing jazz's golden age firmly into the now.
On piano and arrangements is Alex Webb, known for his work with top jazz names like China Moses, Liane Carroll and Jo Harrop, and the creative force behind shows like Café Society Swing and Stormy: The Life of Lena Horne. Joining them are a stellar line-up of London's finest: trumpeter Mark Kavuma, saxophonist Josh Kemp, bassist Neville Malcolm and drummer Alfonso Vitale - a rhythm section that swings, soars and breathes new life into these timeless songs.
It's a heartfelt celebration of Billie Holiday's music and words, with the raw honesty, rhythm and soul that made her a legend.
