Britannia Waves The Rules

Britannia Waves The Rules
In a Garrison town, we know the uniform.

But do we know those who wear it? You don't sign up to be a hero.

You sign up to leave.

Carl is sick of Blackpool.

He's sick of the dirty water, the dead-end jobs, and the feeling that he's sinking.

He wants structure.

He wants respect.

He wants to be a "man." The army offers him a lifeline: a uniform, a family, and a ticket out of town.

But as Carl swaps the seaside for the battlefield, he realizes that the structure he craved is built on chaos.

When he returns home, the war follows him back, fracturing the very identity he tried so hard to build.

For a town with deep military roots, Carl's story asks difficult questions about what happens when the uniform comes off.

Gareth Farr's Bruntwood Prize-winning play is a sharp, fast-paced, and devastatingly human look at the modern soldier.
