Build the Next Generation: Start Teaching Construction at Yeovil College
If you work in the construction industry and have ever thought, I could teach someone this, then Yeovil College wants to hear from you.

On6th May 2026, were opening our doors to construction professionals who are interested in sharing their skills, shaping the next generation, and exploring a flexible, supported route into teaching.

Whether youre a bricklayer, carpenter, electrician, plumber, site manager or multitrade specialist, your expertise is in demand, and you dont need teaching experience to get started.

Many of our construction staff began with justone day a weekat Yeovil College. This flexible approach allows you to stay in industry while trying something new, giving you time to adjust, learn, and build confidence in the classroom.

You can begin through:

Shadowing current teachers
Workshop support roles
Technician positions
Volunteer days (try teaching before committing).

Well provide the mentoring, training and guidance you need, every step of the way. Moving from the tools to teaching doesnt mean leaving your trade behind, it means using your experience to build something bigger.

At Yeovil College, youll benefit from:

More predictable working hours
Greater worklife balance
Paid holidays and an extra Christmas break
Professional development and free qualifications and training

If youre unsure whether teaching is right for you, we offer a nopressure volunteer programme where you can:

Observe lessons
Support practical workshops
Meet our team
Get a feel for the environment.

You can do this over a week, fortnight or month, six-months, whatever works for you. Join Us on 6th May Whether youre ready to step straight into teaching or want to explore the idea slowly, well support you every step of the way.
