Calendar Girls

By Tim Firth
Based on the true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2009 and has since become a popular tale of hope, determination and friendship. Its about loss in many forms; about the importance of acceptance; about knowing when to let go. But it offers plenty of humour, and remains an uplifting tale of the challenges of female friendship. Its also a hymn to the brilliance of the Womens Institute, a group to which I happen to proudly belong, so here we go with our sunflowers to the sound of Jerusalem!
