Waveney Light Opera Group, following their smash hit productions of Rent, Little Shop Of Horrors, Made In Dagenham and Me and My Girl, returns this October with the heartwarming and hilarious musical,Calendar Girls. Written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, this award-winning musical is based on the 2003 film, which, in turn, was based on a true story. When Annies husband dies from leukaemia, she teams up with her close friend Chris to buy a comfortable sofa for the visitors room at the hospital where he was treated. They have an idea of printing a calendar to raise funds, featuring some of the members of the Knapely branch of the Womens Institute. A calendar with a difference, as each of the traditional activities would be depicted by one of the ladies discreetly posing in the nude. Their proposal is initially met with great scepticism, but eventually, Chris convinces them to participate. An inspiring story of friendship, support and a group of ladies who achieved something extraordinary.
