Our summer concert opens with the overture from Berliozs opera Batrice et Bndict , based on a subplot from Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing . Rosalind Ventris, one of the countrys most prominent soloists, joins us for York Bowen's Viola Concerto , a great romantic masterpiece. Jean Sibelius was one of the most important symphonists of the 20th century. Influenced by Tchaikovsky, his first symphony is lushly romantic and full of Sibelius distinctive musical idiom. Join us for an evening of compelling music in the finale of our 2024-2025 season.
