About this course:
This course is an introduction into canvas making using wood, workshop tools & canvas fabric.

Led by Workshop Technician and Artist Tayler Fisher, you will finish your own stretched canvas frame and leave with the skills to make more, and bigger, canvases, ready for any painting project, at home or in the workshop. You will make a wooden frame, stretch it with canvas and prime the canvas with glue.

Different canvas frame making options will be shown and discussed, with you learning a manageable technique. You will partake in the whole making process and will use a range of skills such as; measuring wood, creating mitre joints, constructing a frame, cutting canvas fabric, stretching the canvas and handling & painting glue.

Who is this course for?
This course is an introduction into Canvas Making and is suitable for all. Beginners and seasoned makers are both welcome. Artists and those wanting to start too.
Participants must be aged 18 years and over.
Spaces are limited to 6 participants.

Do I need to bring anything?
All materials, tools and equipment will be provided.
Please dress ready for the workshop. If able, bring steel toe-capped boots or the workshop has some available to wear.
Lunch is available to purchase from the River Kitchen at the Museum of Making or various eateries and shops in the city centre.
