Celebrating Devon's World-Class Heritage: Discovery Day at Beer Quarry Caves

The significance of the Dorset and East Devon Coast World Heritage Site will be explored in a Discovery Day in the morning of Monday 14th July, in Beer Quarry Caves. Described by W.G. Hoskins as one of the most exciting things in Devon, Beer Quarry Caves has supplied building stone for Roman villascathedrals, parish churches, country houses and cottages, right down to recent times. A guided tour, which lasts approximately 75 minutes, recounts the story of this remarkable site of industrial archaeology and the men who laboured to extract the stone over hundreds of years.
