Calling all future chemists! Did you know that there are so many amazing colours that can be created from plants? Join us for a series of workshops to investigate natural dyes, inks and stains. Be inspired by our medieval garden and the plants that were grown there in the past. Try a new technique in every session! These STEM workshops are funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry. 27 May 2025: Learn about acids and bases using a natural Ph indicator, including experimenting on fabric and paper (turmeric and red cabbage). 11 August 2025:Learn to create ink from plants and see how it looks when used on paper and fabric. Make your own ribbon streamer which you can test out in the castle grounds. 18 August 2025:Learn about dyeing with local plants and a discover links to sustainability, circularity and fast fashion. At 10am on each date there is a relaxed SEND session of this workshop. SEND groups are always welcome at all of our sessions. We are also running these SEND sessions for visitors who benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere. FAQs How can I contact the organiser with any questions? Call 01924 302700 and leave a message.
