Join us for our first 2024 Comedy Night at the Royal as we host three hilarious, hugely popular comedians for a night of fantastic stand-up comedy!
Sam Harland - MC/Compère for the evening
Considered one of the best comperes in the country, Sam is adept in his ability to engage with audiences to hilarious consequences. Sam’s unique, observational humour is drawn from his working-class roots, engaging his audiences with his self-deprecating, ironic, and honest humour, particularly in relation to his colourful past escapades.
Nathan Caton - As seen on Live at the Apollo
Nathan’s charismatic and laidback style of stand-up has seen him quickly establish himself on the comedy circuit. Regarded as one of the best comics in the UK, Nathan’s award-winning combo of personal and topical anecdotes has led to numerous TV and radio appearances, with his delightfully charming blend of personal and political comedy.
Matt Richardson - As seen on The Xtra Factor
Matt is a multi-award winning comedian, entertainer and host. He quickly established himself in all the major comedy club chains in the UK and has gigged overseas on countless occasions. Matt meteoric rise led to many TV credits including co-hosting The Xtra Factor and Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live! As well as guest appearances in many others!

Comedy Night at the Royal is one of our In-House Productions, meaning it has been produced solely by us, the New Theatre Royal.
These shows are incredibly important to the survival of our treasured theatre because we can keep the ticket revenue (in comparison to visiting shows, where we only see about 15% - 20% of ticket revenue), which we then put towards the upkeep of our beautiful, 129-year-old theatre, in the hopes of keeping the theatre thriving for generations to come.
