Deeper Cuts: Inês Loubet + Basile Petite + Jimi Lean (dj)
Deeper Cuts is a night celebrating jazz-ish music and artists pushing things forward! We have a cool breeze of London’s best performers blowing through our red-hot August show... Inês Loubet Brazilian rhythms. Gorgeous harmonies. Lusophone lushness. A long time in the works, we’re very excited to bring singer and guitarist Inês to Paper Dress with her Quartet! From Portugal, extended travels through Brazil helped Inês shape her stunning debut album Senga - out on Albert’s Favourites. She has shared stages with legends like Gilberto Gil and João Bosco, and her unique Latin-Jazz, tropicália and samba-infused sound, has been lauded across the board from 6 Music to Radio 3 to NTS. Basile Petite Basile Petite knows all the instruments. The French bassist/saxophonist/guitarist/pianist moved to London after graduating from Tours Jazz Conservatoire, and has been doing great things as a producer and session musician since. His collab release with guitarist Drew Wynen, On s’Amuse, has racked up millions of streams to date and we can’t wait to see what he does next - get a sneak preview in this most expansive of ‘solo’ sets. Jimi Lean (DJ) Hailing from Hackney. Jimi Lean’s tastes span Chaka Khan to Jah Shaka and Sonny Rollins to Sonny Fodera. Expect a mixture of hip hop breaks meshed with the jazz samples they nicked. A producer of impactful music programmes on National Prison Radio, he’s got a monthly show of his own on G Shock and DJ residencies in Shoreditch, Kings Cross and Croydon. It’s a not-for-profit event, with everything after costs going to the artists on top of their fees. Supporter tickets are for people who want to and can afford to pay a little more. Equally, if the low income tickets are gone and the regular ticket price is a barrier, please drop us a line on [email protected]. Deeper Cuts is curated by Karl Bos, who is a DJ and the host of a long-running show of the same name on Soho Radio. He’s immersed in new music as a national jazz radio producer. Karl Bos is supported by the Early Career Promoter Fund which is managed by PRS Foundation and funded by Arts Council England using Supporting Grassroots Music funding from DCMS. Presented by Deeper Cuts. This is an 18+ event
