The Hertfordshire Festival String Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Braime, presents a poignant and uplifting selection from the British string orchestra tradition. The programme includes Elgars Elegy for Strings , Bridges Lament for String Orchestra , and Brittens Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings - written in the dark wartime year of 1943 and performed by two superb young musicians, tenor Guy Elliott and horn soloist Chloe Harrison.
Works by Vaughan Williams, Holst, and Elgar complete this stirring celebration of musics enduring ability to illuminate the human experience.
A moving and evocative finale, bringing the festival to a close in a spirit of reflection and renewal.
