Exeter Philharmonic Choir Concert

Exeter Philharmonic Choir Concert
This even takes place at Exeter Historic Guildhall.

A special afternoon concert is being staged in the city's historic Guildhall on Saturday 18th April by a chamber ensemble from Exeter Philharmonic Choir. The two-hour mayoral reception will begin at 2pm, followed by music and verse performed by EPC's Pilgrims' Chorus under the expert leadership of its Musical Director, Stephen Tanner. The event will raise funds for the Lord Mayor of Exeter's chosen charity, Riding for the Disabled - Exeter Group.

Exeter Philharmonic Choir has been at the heart of the city's musical life since 1846, bringing quality choral performances to large audiences, usually in the setting of Exeter Cathedral. The full choir comprises over one hundred singers. In 2021 a smaller chorus was formed to enable annual tours along ancient pilgrimage routes. The EPC Pilgrims' Chorus has since journeyed successfully through Cornwall, Devon, Herefordshire, and Hampshire. The Chorus is honoured to perform for the Lord Mayor and her guests on this special occasion.

To complement the historic setting of the Guildhall, the Lord Mayor has requested a programme to suit a wide range of tastes. The result is a musical pilgrimage through some of the finest choral works of the past 500 years, embracing sacred and secular repertoire alongside traditional and contemporary African-American spirituals and folk songs. The singing is interwoven with poems specially chosen to reflect and enrich the music.

The ticket price is inclusive of wine and refreshments.
