Finlay's practice begins in the landscape of the North West Highlands of Scotland.

Since graduating in 2025, he has expanded his work across the wider Gairloch area, painting people whose lives are inseparable from the land they work and inhabit. In these portraits, figures become extensions of the landscape itself, shaped and weathered by place.
