First Five invites artists, innovators and cultural leaders to share the stories behind five things that have shaped them.

First Five Live cannot wait to welcome award winning author and showrunner behind Queenie, People Person and Champion Candice Carty-Williams. Fast becoming a one of the defining voices in contemporary British storytelling, Yomi Ṣode sits down with Candice for a warm, insightful conversation about the influences that shaped her writing and world building. Through her “First Five”, she explores the books that formed her craft, the tracks that energise and focus her and the person that inspires her the most in conversation with Yomi Ṣode.

With DJ Conrad Kira weaving her musical choices into the room and Roundtable selling Queenie 2 (with post show signing) the night will feel like stepping inside a creative, thoughtful and funny mind at work.

The Elgar Room is the Royal Albert Hall’s versatile contemporary performance space. It's steeped in history and a great way to enjoy live entertainment at the Hall beyond the main stage.
