Fitzwilliam String Quartet perform works by Mozart Beethoven and Shostakovich

The Fitzwilliam Quartet is one of the worlds longest established string quartets, with an international reputation forged through a unique friendship with Dmitri Shostakovich. The quartet became the renowned composers preferred performers for the western premieres of his work, and produced the accliamed recording of all fifteen of his quartets. For the Goods Shed, the Fitzwilliams programme sets Shostakovichs Quartet No 1 Op 49 alongside quartets by Mozart and Beethoven, inviting listeners to find new connections between the works of these seminal composers.
