Five Shorts & A One-Act Play

Five Shorts & A One-Act Play
For our summer production, we're once again performing a series of short scenes followed by a one-act play. This format has been well received in previous years, and it gives more of our members a chance of actually treading the boards! The Pub Play or Did We Win? by Doc Watson, is a 15 minute play in which a playwright tries to write an award-winning play, but his constant mind changes mean that his characters have to keep on their toes. By arrangement with Pint-sized Plays. Strangers When We Meet by Scott Carpenter is a 10 minute, very moving play. Malcolm and Eira are both in their sixties and looking for love. As the two make awkward small talk, childhoods are revisited and memories are stirred. Perhaps they are not strangers at all. Inspired by the David Bowie song of the same name. By arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts Trianglesby Nigel Pocknellis a 7 minute comedy. Flatmates Roy and Toms friendship becomes strained when they fall in love with the same woman. Arranging a meeting with her in the pub, they bicker about who should stand down as they wait. Unaware of marriage offers, she arrives to find she has to make a lifetimes choice. By arrangement with Pint-sized Plays. Line Dancing by Jan Sprenger is a 10 minute bitter-sweet comedy. Evelyn and June are having tea together. Evelyn is trying to cheer up the somewhat morose June, by suggesting she try a new hobby, but her friend is reluctant to budge. Gradually we come to understand Junes low state of mind but finally we are cheered by the hint that she might try Line Dancing. By arrangement with Pint-sized Plays. Slimmers Planet by Jamesine Cundell Walker is a short 8 minute play set on and around a bench. Martin, looking for love, meets Lorna, looking for weight loss. By arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts "Gate Thirteen" by Tony Frier is a one act comedy, with a dark twist. A disparate group of travellers with various levels of flying experience await the departure of their flight home from Marrakech. Gary and Julie are ingeniously attempting to avoid excess baggage charges, Derek and Pauline are collecting as many freebies as they can and the mysterious Carrie is handcuffed to her seat. By arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts
