Gaslight, by Patrick Hamilton. Directed by Caryl Rapps. This classic Victorian thriller is set in 1880s London. Jack Manningham is slowly, deliberately driving his wife, Bella, insane. He implies that she has inherited her own mothers madness and accuses her of losing pictures, jewellery, and bills until she begins to believe that it is all true. He has almost succeeded when help arrives in the form of a former detective, Rough, who believes Manningham to be a thief and murderer. Box office opens 28th August.
