This September will see Motown legends Four Tops and The Temptations with Tavares come together to tour six UK cities, including Liverpools M&S Bank Arena on 1 st September, Cardiffs Utilita Arena on 3 rd September, Manchesters O2 Apollo on 4 th September, Hulls Connexin Live on 5 th September, Glasgows SEC Armadillo on 7 th September and Bournemouths BIC on 9 th September.
The superstar vintage soul groups The Four Tops and The Temptations both came from seminal label Motown and are the most commercially successful American pop music groups of all time, having sold tens of millions of albums and influenced generations of artists and music fans. Together with Tavares, the big three groups will be performing in London with full bands, making a long-awaited return to grace British stages. With the popularity of vintage soul peaking in influence across generations, the tour of six UK cities promises to be sell-out shows when tickets go on General Sale at 10am on Friday, 26 th April.
Vocal quartet The Four Tops helped propel the Motown label to global success. Led by the groups remaining original founding member Abdul Duke Fakir, The Four Tops had major breakthrough hits with Baby I Need Your Loving, I Cant Help Myself. Other hits include Its The Same Old Song, Shake Me, Wake Me (When
Its Over) and Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever, Standing In The Shadows Of Love and Bernadette, with Reach Out Ill Be There released in 1966 and the groups biggest Motown hit.
Vocal quintet The Temptations also released music via Motown to achieve massive international success.
Today The Temptations are led by original founding member Otis Williams, with major global hits including My Girl, Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me), Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Aint Too Proud To Beg, I Wish It Would Rain, Cloud Nine, I Cant Get Next To You, and Treat Her Like A Lady.
Tavares are the Tavares brothers, a hugely successful American R&B/Soul group, now touring as a quartet comprising the original founding members Antone Chubby Tavares, Perry Tiny Tavares, Feliciano Butch Tavares and Arthur Pooch Tavares. They are most loved for their international smash hit Heaven Must Be
Missing An Angel, with other hits including It Only Takes A Minute, Dont Take Away The Music, Whodunit, as well as a hugely successful cover of Bee Gees classic More Than A Woman, which appeared on the Saturday Night Fever movie soundtrack.
