Guido Spannocchi Meets Dudù Kouate
Dudù Kouate born in Senegal, lived in Rome for many years and now lives in Berlin. He has previously played and recorded with The Art Ensemble of Chicago, James Brandon Lewis, Abel Selacoe, Moor Mother and many more, coming from a rich tradition of West African percussion Kuate incorporates instruments such as the talking drum, various shakers, cymbals, water pumpkins, ngoni as well as singing in his cutting edge performances. Danny Keane, born in London, originally classically trained on cello has become a household name in the Jazz and World Music scene due to his unique approach and exquisite playing. Keane is musical director for Anoushka Shankar and has been sideman for Mulatu Astatke for over a decade, he regularly works with Nitin Sahwney, Lamb, Damon Albarn and many more. He will be playing cello and effects Guido Spannocchi, born in Vienna, studied classical composition and Jazz saxophone at the renowned conservatoire of Vienna and Paris before moving to London. With a strong focus on his original music Spannocchi has made himself a name in the international music world through extensive touring and an impressive catalogue of releases. Spannocchi is known for his delicate sound and intricate writing, with alto saxophone as his main instrument he doubles on baritone saxophone, various flutes and wind instrument synthesizers. This trio has previously played a casual gig in North London in March where their musical interplay and common approach to spontaneous composition cemented the connection of the ensemble members. Kouate, Keane and Spannocchi will be exploring sketches of tunes in combination based on interplay in order to explore various traditions and bring a unique tapestry of sound.
