Gypsy Strings Revival

Gypsy Strings Revival
Gypsy Strings Revival's rich tapestry of bluegrass, Americana, and country has become a staple of the South Florida folk and bluegrass scene. Known for its energetic performances and heartfelt harmonies, the band is currently recording an original album due to be released this year. Recent highlights include playing Everglades South Florida Bluegrass Association Festival, appearing at the South Florida Fair, with regular gigs and festivals across West Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. Michelle McCarthy Pennington (Guitar, lead vocals) Michelle McCarthy Pennington is a passionate vocalist and multi-instrumentalist whose love for music has been a lifelong journey. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in South Florida, Michelle first picked up the guitar in elementary school. Her musical roots deepened through middle school chorus and later blossomed into a duet act in her twenties, where she sang rich harmonies and played percussion for three years of regular live performances at South Florida venues including the Crest Theater and Delray Affair Art events in Delray Beach and the South Florida Folk Festival in West Palm Beach. After getting married and raising a family, Michelle returned to music with renewed purpose, playing in a country music duet, the Riversiders, then founding the bluegrass group Gypsy Strings Revival. Lucia Hare-Leahy (Banjo, mandolin, backing vocals) Lucia Hare-Leahy, aka Shash, is a magnetic multi-instrumentalist and vocalist whose eclectic musical journey reflects her diverse upbringing in South America, Asia and UK. Eventually moving to the US from England, her global perspective and collaborative spirit complement the fusion of musical influences found in the Gypsy Strings Revival band. With a background in classical piano and acoustic guitar, Lucia's fascination with the banjo and it being at the heart of all that is Americana, led her to pursue the instrument and go on to collaborate with a series of musicians in the South Florida music scene. After joining and recording with the rock-blues, alt-country band Smokeboss Militia she went on to co-found Gypsy Strings Revival with Michelle McCarthy Pennington. Mark Abramowitz (Bass) Mark Abramowitz is a dynamic and seasoned bassist whose musical journey spans genres, decades, and instruments. He began his path in high school, playing guitar in jazz band and jamming in rock bands with friends. Soon after, he transitioned to bass guitar, performing live for years with death metal and progressive metal bands, as well as in high-energy rock cover acts. In 2006, Mark earned his certification as a sound recording engineer from SAE Institute, gaining a deeper technical understanding of music production and performance. In 2017, his passion took a new turn as he embraced the double bass and immersed himself in the acoustic traditions of bluegrass and jazz. Since then, Mark has become an active contributor to the South Florida music scene, performing with multiple bands and bringing a unique blend of electric intensity and acoustic sensitivity to every stage.
