An International Saxophone Collaboration A Concert Celebrating International Friendship An exhilarating afternoon of collaboration and contrast featuring music that connects, defines and inspires us. Sheffield and Derbyshire based saxophone quartet, Halcyon, are delighted to introduce their friends from Marl, Germany, the jBM Saxophon Quartett, in a concert where we explore our connections and shared musical passions. jBM Saxophon Quartett are embarking on a UK tour, and Bakewell Town Hall will be their first performance. They are bringing a wild mix of their favourite pieces showcasing the talents of British and German composers while taking us on a musical trip across Europe. Rebekka, Gregor, Lisa and Ren met in their youth wind orchestra, the junges Blasorchester Marl, and have played together ever since. Their shared history and deep knowledge of each others playing allows for thrilling expressivity and spontaneity. Halcyon Sax Quartet formed in 2024 and perform regularly across Derbyshire and Sheffield, including a special appearance at Chatsworth House in Christmas 2024. With decades of musical experience and international collaborations between them they have formed friendships across Europe and are delighted to be hosting their friends jBM in Bakewell. Halcyon will be presenting a rollicking set of jazz tunes. The two groups will unite and perform pieces in a diverse range of musical styles. There will be works by British composers about Germany and by German Composers about Britain. The afternoon promises to be entertaining and welcoming.
