Health Literacy | Training for Community Health Champions

Health Literacy | Training for Community Health Champions
As a Community Health Champion, you play a crucial role in bridging the gap between healthcare providers and the community. Your ability to communicate health messages clearly and compassionately can empower individuals to take control of their well-being and lead healthier lives. Through this training, delivered by Dr Mike Oliver - Chartered Psychologist and Registered Health Psychologist of Health Literacy Matters [https://www.healthliteracymatters.co.uk/]- you will gain valuable insights into the best practices for engaging with diverse populations, and the best way to communicate health messages. Low health literacy is common throughout Stoke-on-Trent; that many people across the city may struggle to read and understand medical information that is intended for members of the public. This training is about allowing Community Health Champions to support people to understand these health messages in a way that empowers them to make informed decisions and take the necessary actions to manage or improve their health and well-being. This training is available for registered Community Health Champions. Community Health Champions are local volunteers who help improve the health and wellbeing of people in Stoke-on-Trent, by connecting with their community to share health messages, and feeding back on the health needs of the communities they live and/or work within. For more information about the Community Health Champions project, or to register as a Community Health Champion and gain access to this training (alongside other training and resources), visit chc.vast.org.uk [https://chc.vast.org.uk/] or [email protected].
