Hetty Kate Swings the Standards

Hetty Kate Swings the Standards
Jazz vocalist Hetty Kate, acclaimed by jazz critic Will Friedwald as “one of the best swing singers on the current scene” and “the real deal,” was born in England, raised in Australia, and has been based in France since 2017. Known for her ‘natural musicality’, clear tone, and impeccable timing, Hetty’s razor-sharp wit sets her apart, skillfully blending poise and humour with a deep respect for the music. A natural entertainer, Hetty has released ten albums and performed in more than twenty-five countries, singing on stages from Taiwan to Norway and from Bali to Granada. She has performed at jazz festivals in the US, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, with highlights being the New York Winter Jazz Festival (USA), the Sapporo International Jazz Festival (Japan), the Prague Proms (Czech Republic), and Jazz a Vienne (France). Hetty has also appeared on film, television, and radio and trod the boards as Ava Gardner in Eric McCusker's original Australian musical 'Ava at the End of the World'. Hetty toured for six years as Australian jazz legend James Morrison’s vocalist and was the featured vocalist in his award-winning symphonic orchestra concert ‘The A to Z of Jazz’ which toured in Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. For this concert, enjoy Hetty doing what she does best: swing! Journey through musical treasures and little-heard gems of the American Songbook alongside favourites from Hetty's album releases. She has invited an exceptional trio of London musicians, featuring one of the finest young pianists on the scene today, Fraser Urquhart.
