In 1880s Salford, bombastic boot-shop owner Henry Hobsons attempts to rule over his independent minded daughters doesnt quite go to plan - and when his 'plain' but very astuteeldest daughter, Maggie becomes intent on marrying long-suffering boot-maker Willie Mossop, Hobson's future looks uncertain. However, it is hapless Willie who triumphs in this unlikely love story, as newfound fortitude deals a resolution that is - Hobson's Choice.
