We are very excited to be welcomingprofessional archer John Steels of Red Fox Historical Archery back to Pontefract Castle for this session specially designed for Home Educatedchildren aged 10+. Participants will learn about the importance of archery in medieval England, explore what role archers played in the defence of medieval castles like Pontefracts, and they will be able to have-a-go at archery themselves with help and instruction from John. Please note: Please come dressed for the weather as much of this session will take place outdoors, rain or shine. No previous experience of archery is required. This workshop is strictly for children aged 10+. Due to the nature of the activities, childrenunder the age of 10 WILL NOT be permitted to take part. Only one adult space will be available per booking.If you do bring younger siblings, a second adult must accompany you to care for the younger children in the wider castle site while you attend the workshop with the children aged 10+. Please note that the price per child for Home Education workshops from May 2025 has increased to 6.70.This is due to annual inflationary increases applied by Wakefield Council.
