On Saturday 10th May, we welcome back our house band, performing as The Bricklayers - a name inspired by the local jazz scene here on Brick Ln. With two sets of live jazz and sounds from DJ residents before, after, and throughout, you're in for a top notch evening of live music and unbeatable vibes in our intimate living room. JJAMZ invites D'Cruz and Kanem to the booth to soundtrack the night, before, after and in between the live sets. They'll be firing up the dancefloor with a mixed bag of house, broken beat, UK funky and everything in between so come down for a boogie! about jjamz JJAMZ is a DJ and producer based out of Brixton, South London. His sound is influenced heavily by early New York club music and 2000s London sounds, and he’s all about putting the soul back in dance music, whether that’s through playing broken beat, UK funky or deep, soulful and spiritual house. about kanem A self-taught DJ with an ear for uplifting sounds, Kanem has spent years refining her sound, delving into the soulful realms of dance music. Having honed her skills with warm-up sets and radio residencies, her mixes are a captivating blend of soul, house and jazz, that reflect her eclectic taste. With roots in Birmingham and a family deeply immersed in the world of DJs, performers and vocalists, her connection to music runs deep, with genres such as lover’s rock, R&B and garage influencing a lifelong love for beats and storytelling since childhood. For Kanem music is an integral part of her identity and wellbeing, shaping her path within a scene she feels innately connected to. about d'cruz The South-London DJ and co-founder of the Utopia Presents party/label, D'Cruz brings his range of dance and soulful music to his selection, having taken his party to various dancefloors such as Brooklyn’s Friends & Lovers, London’s Corsica Studios, and Bulgaria's Meadows in the Mountains. With time spent at Bristol taste-making labels such as EC2A and Club Djembe, you can expect to hear many influences to his sound - with timeless cuts of boogie n soul, to deep and soulful house records.
