The Musical Threads of the Silk Roads is arare invitation to travel through the landscapes, sounds and stories of the ancient Silk Roads through a cinema-concert that weaves live Oud and travel film.
For the first time in the UK, Ibantuta, a Basque musician and Oud player, presents his cinema-concert. A truly unique show that blends live music and storytelling with original travel film projections captured during a year-long journey across 12 countries of the Silk Roads, from China to Turkey.
With his Oud as his compass, Ibantuta retraced the musical exchanges that once flowed between China, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Along the way, he met traditional instrument players and collaborated with over 40 musicians, recomposing age-old repertoires through a contemporary lens.
In thisimmersive cinema-concert, Ibantuta invites the audience to travel with him on a reflective sensory experience a meditation on travel, memory, and the threads that connect us across borders and time.
