Pianist and composer Jim Watson has, over the last 25 years, had a remarkable career in both the jazz and popular music worlds, playing, recording and touring with the likes of Kurt Elling, Katie Melua, Sting and Van Morrison. Sought after for his fluid style, impeccable technique and ability to excel in any musical setting, Jim was also co-producer/arranger on five of Manu Katche’s albums. Jim’s own output has been sparse, but tonight we celebrate the launch of his new album, “Calling You Home”. Mostly accompanied by the superb rhythm section of Adam King-bass and Ian Thomas-drums, along with a few solo piano compositions, the night will feature a mix of Jim’s own material and some favourite standards. “classy jazz pianist” Time Out “Watson…a standout” Guardian
