Join illustratorSALOMEY DOKU for this fun workshop based on her illustrations in Sir Lenny Henrys Black-boy-joy-filled Tyrones Cool Crown rhyming picture book.

Tyrone loves his hair. Mum and Grandad think its time to visit the barbershop.

Salomey reads Sir Lenny Henrys magical story embracing change, celebrating identity, culture and self-esteem and shows participants how to draw 'super-powered' hairstyles as well as Tyrone, Mum and Grandad.

This session is followed by book signing.

Suitable for: Ages 6-8 accompanied by an adult. May involve vocal exercise and some physical exercise.

Likkle Lit Fest is a glorious festival of Black literature for all young readers from tots to teens taking place of Saturday 14th February 2026 from 10:30am-4:00pm. The one-day takeover of Leeds Central Library will feature workshops and drop-ins showcasing Black characters, stories and history, told by Black writers, brought to life by Black illustrators, to be enjoyed by everyone.

As well as the ticketed sessions, the Library will be abuzz with a host of brilliant writers, illustrators and artists ticket-free activities and zones:
