Little Women

Book by Allan Knee
Music by Jason Howland
Lyrics by Mindi Dickstein
Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott
Jo March is desperate to be a writer. Her stories have been performed and heralded by her sisters Meg, Beth and Amy but in New York, publishers aren’t interested. Her friend, Professor Bhaer encourages her to write from her own experience, which she begrudgingly agrees to try. And so, we discover the story closest to her heart, that of growing up in Concord, Massachusetts during the American Civil War with her sisters.
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s critically acclaimed book, scored by Grammy Award winner Jason Howland, with book and lyrics by Allan Knee and Mindi Dickstein, Little Women follows the classic coming-of-age story filled with heartache, hope, and what it means to be a woman and an artist.
In a stripped-back, actor-musician performance, Little Women is brought to life by the Royal Conservatoire’s final-year BA Musical Theatre and MA Musical Directing students.
Content warnings: Little Women features images of violence and themes of death and grief.
The 7.30pm performance on Friday 3rd March will be interpreted in BSL.
