But its easy to see why as Norwegian folk dances play alongside gloriously romantic melodies and huge crashing chords, a captivating cadence and moments of exquisite beauty. Sibeliuss rousing Second Symphony never fails to delight. Evoking the grandeur of the lakes and mountains of his native Finland, This work culminates in the fourth movements most nobly brave and all-time-favourite themes. Artistic Director Marc Corbett Weaver makes his annual appearance as piano soloist with George Jackson as conductor.
